Wood is a very versatile material: it is warm, tough, long-lived -if used expertly and sensibly. However, swinging timber beam ceilings may constitute a  problem. Old supporting structures, but also new structures with a wide span and often with a very slim ceiling design, frequently lack the requisite stiffness.

A tenfold increase in rigidity when using TCC composite!

As a rule, by using the Timber-Concrete Composite Construction method, in which the mass (concrete) is given a static function, the rigidity of the ceiling increases by the factor 10 as a rule. By using a so-called »companion supporting network« loads can be much more easily diverted and distributed. This is a tremendous advantage, not just in the event of »excitation« due to walking and dancing, but also in the event of earthquakes, floods and wind loads. The Elascon Timber-Concrete Composite creates a rigid slab - without the need to design build and construct a ring beam. This slab stabilises the entire building.
