TCC Norms

In addition to EC 5 »Design and construction of timber structures«, the HBV shall be standardised. In preparation for this, several research institutions in Europe are currently working on a technical specification.

The screw-type Elascon shear connectors SFix 1, 2 or 3 and, depending on the work design, the Elascon hybrid cam, are installed in accordance with the work schedule and the templates provided.

Screw-type shear connectors are screw-turned into position so as to be under tension on one side, i.e., from the middle towards the outside and inclined towards the support.

The patented Elascon shear connector design embodies all the experience and the know how that we have gathered over a period of many years on our various construction sites. Apart from outstanding shear force distribution, our main objective is to minimise the tightening torque levels. The drill tip is exceptionally slim, so that the thread “bites” immediately, even in hard, old timbers.

The tip surface has also been chemically treated, and its corrosion protection finish also provides highly effective lubrication. A special magnetic bit facilitates  fast, low-fatigue installation. The installation of the patented hybrid cam also effected systematically with a separate fitting cutter and a conventional lump hammer. All Elascon  shear connector types are approved by the official construction supervisory authorities.
